Cape Cod

These paintings were made during a visit to Cape Cod one year after 9/11.
People there were still in shock.
The friends we stayed with at Woods Hole made it possible for us to tour the area by sea -
the best introduction to a fascinating region steeped in early modern American history.
Having spent a lot of my childhood around Wivenhoe in Essex, the similarities became quickly obvious
as did some of the place names.
On our return we spent a few days in New York where my love of Abstract expressionism was confirmed
and began to make more sense amidst the tall buildings and in the unique atmosphere of Manhattan.
