Recent Paintings from the studio of Simon Blackwood
In the 1960s I worked alongside and studied under some of the leading “conceptualists” and “avante garde” artists of the time, yet emerged, resolute and intent on pursuing a traditional means toward artistic expression.
This section of the site will show a selection of contemporary work that will change frequently. Many paintings that stay in my Scottish Borders' studio for any length of time continue to be worked on. Knowing when they are ever finished is only made certain when they leave bound for a collectors' wall.
I have divided this portfolio into subsections for oils and pastels although other mediums will also feature.
