Blue Boat - oil on canvas - 24 X 30 inches - collection of the Sabanci Corporation 'The Blue Boat' was probably my first Bosphorus painting and undoubtedly the most significant. It appeared in a copy of Country Life shortly after it was painted and from that came many commissions and subsequent exhibitions. My Father-in-law, John Balston, who was a fine watercolourist, said it represented a simple but effective classical triad composition - the boat, a buoy and the wake of another boat having already passed beyond the picture.
